Originally from the East Coast, the Beyers have made their home in the Phoenix area since 2000. After Ken retired from the U.S. Navy as a Commander he started a very successful chimney sweep business. Being familiar with working on roofs and with vent pipe, Ken found transitioning to installing tubular skylights was a natural progression. After honing his skills in Raleigh, NC, Ken moved to the Valley and entered into partnership with a long-time friend to buy out an ailing skylight manufacturing and installation business. In 2002, Ken went out on his own, creating The Skylight Guy, which allowed him to leave the manufacturing aspects behind for the installation and distribution side of the industry. It immediately became a family venture as business increased.
In 2003, The Skylight Guy partnered with the largest skylight manufacturer in the world, VELUX, and expanded in response to increasing demand by adding repair, replacement and installation of traditional skylights to their repertoire.
